Ruwais Higher Colleges of Technology

Madinat Zayed and Ruwais Colleges are set in the heart of Al Gharbia in Madinat Zayed City and Ruwais. The Madinat Zayed campus is close to Liwa at the edge of the massive Rub’ Al Khali desert, known in English as ‘the Empty Quarter’. The colleges also serve students from Al Mirfa, on the beautiful, un-spoilt coastline of the Gulf. The Ruwais campus was opened to help cut down travel time for more distant students. They are ideally situated to serve students from Sila, Ghayathi, Ruwais and surrounding towns. Faculty members teach across both campuses, sometimes travelling, sometimes using video link up, to enable all students to have the same opportunities across the vast region. Al Gharbia is an area of the United Arab Emirates steeped in tradition and history, but leading the way in technological and environmental development, particularly in the petrochemical industries. Over the next ten years there are ambitious plans to develop the region’s infrastructure and economy. Improving access to quality higher education for the youth of the region is an essential part of these plans, so that they are ready to take up the varied career and employment opportunities that are being created and lead Al Gharbia into the future.

Students and staff at Madinat Zayed and Ruwais Higher Colleges of Technology are committed to finding sustainable ways to work and live in Al Gharbia. This will be done through action, research and education, on the campus and in the Western Region community
